Numerical modeling of copper macro-segregation in the binary alloy Al-4Cu

In this paper, the modeling of solidification Al-4Cu alloy was studied. The calculation code is developed to model equiaxed globular in a square mold. mold walls are subjected constant temperatures and velocity components equal 0, exchange coefficient ’H’ between interface melt estimated at 500 W/( m 2 K) initial temperature ’T0’ 900 K. resolution method used finite differences, upwind scheme for convective terms, space-centered diffusive terms. calculated profiles temperature, solid fraction, concentration macro-segregation copper. At beginning cooling, started four corners plate. grains formed could not move studied surface. With cooling time, casting rapidly lower part; because, away from sedimented accumulated part On other hand, liquid located mainly upper part. segregation copper two-phase mixture due its continuous rejection liquid.
